Preview: Track & Field Opens Outdoor Season at the 2021 Blizzard Buster

SAULT STE. MARIE, Mich. - The Lake Superior State men's and women's track and field teams are set to open the 2021 outdoor season on Saturday, March 20 at the 2021 Blizzard Buster hosted by Miami University in Oxford, Ohio. The competition will take place on the George L. Rider Track with the field events beginning at 9:00 a.m. and the running events slated to start at 10:30 a.m.

The majority of the team will be competing in the Blizzard Buster including a few of the Lakers top returners as well as some promising first-year student-athletes. On the men's side, David Mitter will compete in the 5,000m run for the Lakers. During the 2021 indoor season, Mitter broke the school record on two separate occasions in the 5k distance, and looks to build on his success in the upcoming outdoor season.

The women's team will look for strong performances from Elizabeth Setsuda in the 200m dash and the long jump, and Riley Collins in the high jump. Another notable event on the women's side will be the javelin, as freshman Jenna Fleming is primed for a strong first collegiate meet.
