Preview: Laker Women's Golf Set to Travel Downstate for Pair of Weekend Invitationals

SAULT STE. MARIE, Mich. – The Lake Superior State University women's golf program is set to travel downstate for the Lady Bulldog Fall Invitational, hosted by Ferris State University at Katke Golf Course in Big Rapids, Mich., on Saturday, Sept. 24 before competing at the Gilda's Club Laker Fall Invite, hosted by Grand Valley State University at The Meadows Golf Course in Allendale, Mich., on the following two days.

The Lakers are coming off of an impressive showing at the Lawrence Tech Invite in which they finished second overall as a team, and all five athletes representing LSSU finished at least tied for a spot inside the top-ten on the individual leaderboards, including freshman Lekisha Sasitharan (Shah Alam, Malaysia) who placed second individually and spent a majority of the competition at the top of the leaderboard.

The Lady Bulldog Fall Invitational will feature 15 teams from 14 schools with the hosts, Ferris State, being represented twice with both an "A" and a "B" team, and a majority of the field will be made up of Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference competition. The event will be comprised of 36 holes over two rounds at Katke Golf Course which has played host to multiple league and regional championships in both golf and cross country.

The Gilda's Club Laker Fall Invite will have a field of eight teams, including four teams in the GLIAC. The Meadows Golf Course is ranked No. 6 in the Top-25 College Golf Courses in the United States and No. 21 in the state of Michigan by Golf Advisor. It has also played host to nine NCAA National Championships as and several MHSAA Championships.
