Women's Basketball Heads to San Diego for a Pair of Non-Conference Games

SAULT STE. MARIE, Mich. - The Lake Superior State women's basketball team will match up against Azusa Pacific on Tuesday, Dec. 17 at 3:00 p.m. EST and Cal Lutheran on Saturday, Dec. 20 at 1:00 p.m. EST in San Diego, Calif.

The Lakers

The Lakers head to California holding a 4-4 overall record and a 1-2 GLIAC record after the team's most recent game against Ferris State ended in a loss. The Lakers are led by senior forward Lexie Khon who averages 13.6 points per game as well as 4.3 rebounds per game. Freshman forward Mattison Rayman ranks second on the team in points with an average of 9.3 per game this season and leads her teammates in rebounds per game (7.9). Senior guard Claire Radtke rounds out the top three scorers for the Lakers as she has averaged 8.9 points per game as well as 5.9 rebounds. 

Through eight games this season, the Lakers have averaged 59.9 points per game, 29.5 rebounds per game and a 39.8 shooting percentage. 

Azusa Pacific Cougars (7-2, 2-2 PACWest)

The Cougars enter the game against the Lakers on a two game losing streak after opening the season with seven straight wins. Azusa is led by Laura Pranger who averages 14.2 points per game on a 46.0 shooting percentage. Pranger, a junior forward, also leads the Cougars in rebounds with an average of 7.2 per game. Senior guard Daylee Hanson has also been a solid player for the Cougars this year with an average of 9.4 points per game as well as 5.6 rebounds. Azusa is led by Head Coach T.J. Hardeman, who is in his 12th season in the role, and guided the Cougars to a first place finish in their conference last season. 

Through nine games this season, Azusa Pacific averages 76.1 points per game, 43.8 rebounds per game and a 43.6 shooting percentage. 

Cal Lutheran Regals (2-4, 0-1 SCIAC)

The Cal Lutheran Regals have played six games this season and only one conference game so far to post a 2-4 overall record. The Regals have totaled 70.7 points per game on average on a 36.5 shooting percentage and 33.0 rebounds. Cal Lutheran has three players who average 12 or more points per game this season, led by sophomore guard Mackenzy Iwahashi who has 13.5 points per game on a 47.6 shooting percentage. Junior guard Jozie Tangeman has averaged 12.3 points per game with a shooting percentage of 50.0 and sophomore forward Cameron Mallory rounds out the top three scorers as she averages 12.0 points per game for the Regals. Mallory leads the team in rebounds with 8.3 per game. 

Cal Lutheran is led by Head Coach Kelli DiMuro, who is in her first season in the role for the Regals.
