Preview: Laker Hockey Set for Thanksgiving Weekend CCHA Road Series at St. Thomas

SAULT STE. MARIE, Mich. - The Lake Superior State hockey program (1-7-2, 0-3-1 CCHA) is set to take on the St. Thomas Tommies (2-12-0, 1-7-0 CCHA) for a Thanksgiving weekend road trip in Mendota Heights, Minn.

Stories to watch:

  • The Lakers lead the all-time series against the Tommies 4-1, including a 3-1 head-to-head record last season after their recent jump to Division I, a regular season series that saw the Lakers outscore the Tommies 15-7.

  • While the Tommies have not found much success in the win column, they have still proven to be a dangerous team with 50% of their games only being decided by a single goal.

  • On Nov. 12, the Tommies pushed Bowling Green to the brink before giving up two goals in the final five minutes in a 3-2 loss.

  • In the four game regular season series between the Lakers and the Tommies in the 2021-22 season, Roy and Boudon proved to be a dominant force with seven and six points respectively with each also having a three-point game in the series.

  • Lucas Wahlin and Ryan O'Neill enter the series having led a balanced attack for the Tommies so far this season, recording nine points each, and three players have scored four goals for St. Thomas so far this season.

  • Both teams are coming off of a series against Michigan Tech (The Lakers were idle this past weekend), and while the Tommies were swept by the Huskies, the Lakers earned their first CCHA points of the season with a shootout win on Nov. 11.

  • The Lakers' captain Louis Boudon (Grenoble, France) leads the team in scoring with eight points (4G, 4A) after ten games, two away from 100 for his career.

  • Jacob Bengtsson (Stockholm, Sweden) currently leads the team in assists this season with five.

  • Harrison Roy (Lakeville, Mass.) has also proven to be an efficient point scorer this season with four (3G, 1A) in six games.

  • Boudon enters the series two points shy of 100 for his career.
