Laker Hockey Falls to St. Thomas in Second Game of CCHA Road Series

MENDOTA HEIGHTS, Minn. - The Lake Superior State hockey program (1-9-2, 0-5-1 CCHA) fell on the road to the St. Thomas Tommies (4-12-0, 3-7-0 CCHA) by a final score of 2-1 on Saturday.

Both defenses were once again on full display in the opening period with neither team able to score despite multiple quality chances.

In the second period, the Tommies were able to apply more pressure than they did in the first with Ethan Langenegger (Kamloops, B.C.) stepping up to make several key saves. However, St. Thomas was able to strike first with a four on three power play goal from Luke Manning at the 18:10 mark.

At the 4:13 mark of the third period Josh Eernisse was able to take advantage of a loose puck and convert on a short-handed breakaway to put the Tommies up 2-0, but the Lakers kept fighting. Then, at the 12:50 mark, Benito Posa (Flint, Mich.) was able to get the Lakers on the board after a nice feed from Brett Roloson (Worcester, Mass.), scoring his first goal of the season to get the Lakers back to within one. However, despite multiple chances late, the Lakers were unable to find the back of the net, and St. Thomas was able to hold on to take the second game of the series by a final score of 2-1.

The Lakers return to action on Friday, Dec. 2 when they host the Bowling Green Falcons in Taffy Abel Arena with puck drop scheduled for 7:07 p.m.
