Preview: Cross Country Set to Race in Michigan State's Spartan Invitational

SAULT STE. MARIE, Mich. - The Lake Superior State University men's and women's cross country teams will continue their 2021 season this Friday, Sept.17, by competing at the Spartan Invitational on Michigan State's campus located in East Lansing, Mich.

Lake State's women's cross country team will kick off the day with a 6,000 meter race starting at 11:00 a.m. while the men's team will follow with an 8,000 meter race with an 11:40 a.m. start time. The races will be held at the Forest Akers East Golf Course located on Michigan State's campus.

Lake Superior State will be one of 21 collegiate programs competing at the Michigan State competition.

The Lakers anticipate a strong performance from senior David Mitter, who placed fourth in last weekend's Warrior Challenge. With very young rosters on both the men's and women's sides, Head Coach Rob Gallinger will look for his team to continue to build on the experience from competing at the collegiate level.

Results will be posted here.
