Women's Golf Wraps Up 2022 Season at GLIAC Championships

SAULT STE. MARIE, Mich. - The Lake Superior State women's golf team wrapped up the 2022 season on Friday, April 22 and Saturday, April 23 at the Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (GLIAC) Championships at the Stonehedge Golf Club in Augusta, Mich. 

The men's team combined for a two-day total of 661 to finish eighth among the GLIAC participating schools at the conference championships. On the first day of competition, the Lakers recorded a score of 339 and followed with a 322 combined score on day two of the tournament. 

Freshman Jesse Hellebuyck led the Lakers at the GLIAC Championship with a career-best performance on the course. Hellebuyck posted a team-low score of 78 on Friday and followed with another strong day on Saturday, with a score of 79. The freshman combined for a two-day total of 157 to finish tied for 18th among participants. 

Senior Alyshia Suleman finished second among her teammates with a two-day total of 167 after posting a score of 84 on the first day of championships and following with a score of 83 on Saturday. Sophomore Marie Mathieu combined for a 168 total at the GLIAC Championships (87, 81) and junior Julia Vess rounded out the team with a combined score of 169 (90, 79).
