Lakers Hold at No. 18 in USCHO Poll

SAULT STE. MARIE, Mich. – Lake Superior State hockey held at No. 18 in the most recent edition of the USCHO.com Men's Top 20 Poll, as announced on Monday.

Lake Superior State (14-6-2) garnered 164 voting points to be ranked No. 18 for the second consecutive week. The Lakers went 1-0-1 against Alabama Huntsville in a two-game WCHA series over the weekend at Taffy Abel Arena. LSSU won 7-2 on Friday night and scored six goals in the first period. The Lakers and Chargers then played to a 1-1 tie on Saturday night.

Junior forward Max Humitz was named WCHA Forward of the Week after recording two goals and two assists for four points on the weekend. He also garnered a +4 rating in the series with Alabama Huntsville and extended his point streak to five games. Over his point streak, Humitz has tallied five goals and six assists for 11 points. 

Lake State is back in action against No. 6 Minnesota State on Friday and Saturday in Mankato, Minnesota. Both games are slated for 8:07 p.m. EST. The radio broadcast will be on 99.5 Yes FM and the series will be streamed on FloHockey.TV.

The Lakers' next home series is against Bemidji State on Friday, Jan. 25 and Saturday, Jan. 26. Both games are slated to begin at 7 p.m. inside Taffy Abel Arena.

On Friday, Jan. 25, Laker Hockey will host the ninth annual 'White Out' domestic and sexual violence awareness night, in partnership with the Diane Peppler Center and the Sexual Violence Prevention Team of the Eastern Upper Peninsula. The first 1,000 fans to enter Taffy Abel Arena will receive a free shirt to wear at the game. Tickets may be purchased at the Norris Center Ticket Office or online.
