Max Humitz earned his first WCHA Player of the Week honor this season.

BLOOMINGTON, Minn. – Max Humitz has been named Western Collegiate Hockey Association Forward of the Week, as announced by conference officials on Monday.

A junior winger from Livonia, Michigan who is majoring in Kinesiology, Humitz earned WCHA Forward of the Week honors after extending his point streak to five games – tallying four points on two goals and two assists as Lake Superior State (14-6-2, 9-5-2-0 WCHA) went 1-0-1 against Alabama Huntsville in a two-game WCHA series over the weekend at Taffy Abel Arena in Sault Ste. Marie, Michigan.

In Friday's 7-2 win, Humitz tallied two goals and one assist for three points, while having a +3 rating. Humitz assisted on the Lakers' first goal of the game, scored by senior center Diego Cuglietta 26 seconds into the first period. Humitz's first goal of the night broke a 1-1 tie and gave the Lakers a lead that they would not relinquish. His second goal of the night was the Lakers' seventh of the game, scored at 14:41 of the third period.

In addition to his performance on Friday, Humitz also tallied an assist in Saturday night's 1-1 tie with the Chargers. The assist came on junior center Brendan McKay's game-tying goal at 18:03 of the third period that forced overtime.

Over his five-game point streak, Humitz has tallied five goals and six assists for 11 points.

It is the first time this season that Humitz has earned a WCHA weekly award.
