Preview: Laker Golf Set to Open 2021 Season at the SVSU Spring Invite

SAULT STE. MARIE, Mich. - The Lake Superior State men's and women's golf teams are set to open the 2021 season this weekend as both teams will compete in the SVSU Spring Invitational on Saturday, March 20 and Sunday, March 21. The men's team will play at the Kearney Hill Golf Course in Lexington, Ky. while the women's team will compete at the Cherry Blossom Golf Course in Georgetown, Ky. 

On the men's side, the Lakers will be represented by sophomore Callum McKay, senior Nick Oosterhof, senior Ryan Page, senior Isaac Lennox, junior Zander Park, and senior Carter Tallaire, who will partake as an individual. The course will be a par 72 and plays 7,023 yards off the tee. The SVSU Spring Invite will include 20 different teams competing, which includes the Lakers GLIAC opponents. 

The women's team will also be represented by a strong group of returners. Senior Naomi Keyte, senior Madison Wilkie, junior Alyshia Suleman, redshirt-senior Madison Whittet and sophomore Julia Vess will make up the Laker squad this weekend. Incoming freshman Marie Mathieu will compete in her first collegiate meet this weekend as she will be participating as an individual. The Cherry Blossom golf course is a par 72 and plays 6,004 yards off the tee. In the women's competition, 17 different teams will be competing, including seven GLIAC schools.
