Preview: Laker Women's Tennis Set to Travel to Face Northwood and Lawrence Tech

SAULT STE. MARIE, Mich. -  The Lake Superior State University women's tennis program (0-1) is set to travel to take on former Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (GLIAC) foe Northwood on Friday Feb. 10 at 1 p.m. before facing the Lawrence Tech Blue Devils the following day at 4 p.m.

The Lakers will be looking to bounce back after falling to the Tiffin Dragons by a final score of 5-2. However, the Lakers did show promise with a strong performance in doubles play, sweeping the Dragons in all three matchups for the early 1-0 advantage in the match.

The Timberwolves finished last season's campaign with a record of 15-7 (7-1 in GLIAC) that resulted in a 4-3 loss in the GLIAC tournament championship to Wayne State after eliminating the Lakers in the semifinals one day earlier. The Women's team returns 6 of the 11 players from last year's roster, and they opened the season with a narrow loss to Ferris State by the score of 4-3.

The Blue Devils finished last season's campaign with a record of 11-11 (2-4 in WHAC), and they are currently 0-4 on the year. The Lakers came away with a 5-0 victory over Lawrence Tech last season, and they will be seeking their third consecutive win over the Blue Devils on Saturday.
