Laker Hockey Falls to Bowling Green in Second Game of Series

SAULT STE. MARIE, Mich. - The Lake Superior State hockey program (1-11-2, 0-7-1 CCHA) fell to the Bowling Green Falcons (8-8-0, 7-5 CCHA) by a final score of 5-1 on Saturday.

Both teams would battle early with several chances, but the defenses were able to hold firm, including several saves from Easton Hesse (Beaumont, Alb.). However, the Falcons were able to capitalize on a five-on-three opportunity due to a pair of Laker penalties as Nathan Burke opened up the scoring, and Bowling Green would go on to take a 1-0 lead into the first intermission.

The Falcons would double their lead at the 6:55 mark of the second period with a strike from Alex Barber, but freshman forward Connor Milburn (Kamloops, B.C.) was there with the response a few minutes later with his second goal of the season at the 13:33 mark after Logan Jenuwine (Romeo, Mich.) got him the puck off of the rebound from an attempt by Jack Jeffers (Oakville, Ont.).

However, the Falcons were able to score three goals in the first five minutes of the third period, but despite several quality chances, including a shorthanded breakaway from Louis Boudon (Grenoble, France), Bowling Green would hold on to win the game by a final score of 5-1.

The Lakers return to action on Friday, Dec. 9 when they travel for a CCHA road series against the Beavers of Bemidji State with puck drop scheduled for 8:07 p.m.
