Laker Hockey Falls to Huskies in Second Game of CCHA Road Series

HOUGHTON, Mich. - The Lake Superior State hockey program (1-7-2, 0-3-1 CCHA) fell on the road to the Michigan Tech Huskies (6-3-2, 2-2-2 CCHA) on Saturday.

The Huskies were able to get on the board first at the 4:39 mark of the opening period with a score from David Janikowski. The Lakers would have multiple quality chances throughout the remainder of period, including a two-on-one breakaway after a Husky defensemen slipped on the ice, but a block off of the toe of a Michigan Tech defender prevented the Lakers from capitalizing as they went into the first intermission down 1-0.

The Huskies tacked on another late in the second period with Trevor Russell narrowly squeezing the puck around goaltender Ethan Langenegger (Kamloops, B.C.).

Both defenses held firm for the entirety of the third period despite the Lakers having a few quality chances with an extra attacker in the final minutes of the game, but their efforts would not be enough as the Huskies claimed the second game of the series by a final score of 2-0.

The Lakers will now enter a bye week before turning their attention to the St. Thomas Tommies on Friday, Nov. 25 with the first puck drop scheduled for 8:07 p.m.
