Cross Country Races in Northwood's Pre-Conference Tune-Up

MIDLAND, Mich. - The Lake Superior State men's and women's cross country teams competed in Northwood's Pre-Conference Tune-Up Meet on Friday, Oct. 15. The race took place at Fisher Fields/Fisher Family Trails on Northwood University's campus in Midland, Mich. 

The women's team took part in the 5,000 meter race at 3:00 p.m. while the men's team raced in the 8,000 meter race at 4:00 p.m.

The men's team finished third with a total score of 92 and an average time of 29:22 while the women's team placed fourth with a total score of 90 and an average time of 23:42. 

Kendal Delpiere led the men's squad with a 17th place overall finish with a time of 28:45.5. Aaron Nachazel finished second among his teammates with a time of 28:49.6 and Reese Camp rounded out the Laker top three finishers with a time of 28:59.3. Dominic Comfort (29:37.0), Devlin Taube (31:01.2) and Skylar Williams (31:32.3) completed the Laker finishers at the Tune-Up meet. 

In the women's race, the Lakers were led by freshman Josie Morrow, who placed 16th overall with a time of 21:56.5. The remainder of the women's team, which was comprised of all-freshmen roster, included Sydney Kapushinski (23:22.3), Katelyn Moore (24:05.2), Gwen Phillips (24:12.1), and Olivia Stevens (24:58.8).

The Lakers will compete in the Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (GLIAC) Cross Country Championship next Saturday, Oct. 23. The meet will be hosted by Saginaw Valley State.
