Preview: Cross Country to Take Part in SVSU's Red October Invite

SAULT STE. MARIE, Mich. - The Lake Superior State University men's and women's cross country teams continue their season this Saturday, Oct. 2, by competing at the Red October Invite hosted by Saginaw Valley State University. The race will be held at the Saginaw Valley State Cross Country Course in University Center, Mich.

Lake Superior State's men's team will kick off the day with an 8K beginning at 10:30am, while the women's team will quickly follow with their 6K race beginning at 11:00am. The Inaugural Red October Invite will be an important race for the Lakers as the team approaches the Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (GLIAC) Championships later this month.

With very young rosters on both teams, the Lakers will look to use the experience gained from the previous two meets of the season to have a strong showing at the Red October Invite. David Mitter, a senior on the men's team, should be among the top finishers in the men's race as he approaches the championship portion of the season.
