Lakers Drop Match Against Michigan Tech

HOUGHTON, Mich. - The Lake Superior State women's volleyball team dropped a three set match to Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (GLIAC) opponent Michigan Tech Huskies on Saturday, Sept. 28 in Houghton, Mich. The Lakers overall record now stands at 4-8 overall and 1-3 in GLIAC play after splitting the weekend of road play. 

First Set: Huskies Won, 25-20

Second Set: Huskies Won, 25-12

Third Set: Huskies won, 25-15

Leading the way offensively for the Lakers was sophomore Camdyn Odykirk as she notched 10 kills in the match, with a .333 hitting percentage. Junior Sarah Bailey ranked second among the Lakers with nine kills against the Huskies. 

Lake Superior libero, sophomore Abby Beachnau, led the team in digs with 12. 10 of the 11 Lakers to appear in the match recorded at least one dig.

Sophomore setter Halle Grulke notched all of the 27 Lakers assists in the match, bringing her weekend total to 49 assists. 

Up Next

The Lakers will continue GLIAC play as the team will host the Saginaw Valley State University Cardinals on Tuesday, Oct. 1. The game is set for a 6:30 p.m. start in the Bud Cooper Gymnasium.
