Volleyball Swept by Wayne State on The Road

DETROIT--The Lake Superior State volleyball team fell to Wayne State in straight sets (22-25, 23-25, 21-25) Friday evening in a Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference tilt.

With the loss, the Lakers drop to 1-11 overall on the season with an 0-4 mark in league play. The Warriors move to 8-4, 3-1.

LSSU was led offensively by junior outside hitter Amanda Reid who posted 12 kills in the loss. Camdyn Odykirk and Kyra Vezina finished with five kills respectively. Odykirk led the team with a .455 hitting percentage.

Freshman Halle Grulke led the team with 23 assists from the setter position.

On defense, senior libero Paige Gotham paced the team with 18 digs. Grulke was second totaling 11 on the night.

As a team, the Lakers finished the night with a .087 hitting percentage. The Warriors tallied a .115 percentage.

Hailey Richardson paced the WSU offense with a team-best 13 kills. Madelyn Krenz
tallied nine.

The Lakers will return to the court Saturday (2 p.m.) as they take on Ashland in conference action.

LSSU returns home Sept.28 & 29 playing host to Purdue Northwest (6:30 p.m.) and Wisconsin-Parkside (2 p.m.).
