Reid reaches season high during four-set loss to Bulldogs

SAULT STE. MARIE - Lake Superior State freshman Amanda Reid totaled a season-high 12 kills and juniors Elizabeth Ballor and Karlee Weissend combined for 12 kills and an impressive .458 attack percentage to lead the Laker volleyball team during Friday's four-set loss to 20th-ranked Ferris State.

FSU (22-5 overall, 13-1 Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference) continued its dominance in the GLIAC North Division with a 25-15, 25-20, 24-26, 25-15 victory. The Lakers (3-23 overall, 0-14 GLIAC) conclude their 2016 season with a home match at 2 p.m. Saturday against Grand Valley State.

Jena Tulgestke and Brooke Williams totaled eight kills each for LSSU. Lauren Lukasik compiled 22 assists, and Madison Castle had 18. It was Lukasik's third match of the season with 20 or more assists.

Justice Kjolhede led in digs with 16, and Weissend contributed four blocks. Amanda Reid, Mikala Williams and Castle added 12 digs each.

Allyson Cappel led Ferris State with 16 kills, and Ayanna Buckley totaled 13.

LSSU led throughout most of Set 3 and pulled away from a 24-24 deadlock on a Brooke Williams kill and a FSU attack error. Reid and Brooke Williams had four kills each during that set. The Lakers posted their best team attack percentage of the match, .286, during Set 2.
