Lakers fall 3-0 at Wayne State

DETROIT, Mich. – Lake Superior State women's volleyball suffered it's second loss of their three game road trip against Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference opponent Wayne State on Saturday afternoon.

The Warriors (10-2, 3-1 GLIAC) controlled the match with wins of 25-17, 25-15 and 25-15 to sweep the Lakers (1-11, 0-4 GLIAC).

WSU dominated offensively with a .442 attack percentage on 54 total kills and only eight errors. The Warriors also stood tall defensively, gathering up 49 digs and only allowing 17 kills on Laker attacks. LSSU combined for 13 attack errors and produced just a .047 attack percentage.

Michelle Asiedu and Mikayla Shell combined for a match-high 13 kills for WSU and Brittany Guldan totaled 42 of the team's 48 assists.

With six kills, Brooke Williams led the Lakers for the third consecutive match. Morgan Kelley and Jena Tulgestke each chipped in three kills, while Karlee Weissend and Elizabeth Ballor produced two kills apiece.

Ballor also racked up a pair of assisted blocks. Setters Lauren Lukasik and Madison Castle each had seven assists to lead the Lakers.

LSSU closes the road trip with a 6 p.m. matchup at Saginaw Valley State before returning home to face Ashland at 7 p.m. on Friday and Tiffin at 2 p.m. on Saturday.
