Laker Women's Tennis Fall at Ferris State

Laker Women's Tennis Fall at Ferris State

BIG RAPIDS, Mich. - The Lake Superior State (LSSU) women's tennis team (5-10, 3-4 GLIAC) fell to the Ferris State Bulldogs by a final score of 7-0 on Saturday.

The Bulldogs were able to claim the early advantage in doubles play, claiming all three doubles matches, but the Lakers were still able to produce a strong showing from Tayla Brasier (Bathurst, Australia) and Trinity Ly (Brampton, Ont.) in the No. 1 doubles match, pushing their opponents to a competitive 4-6 result.

Despite the loss, the Lakers would make Ferris State earn every point. Maddie Whip (Sydney, Australia) forced a tiebreaker in the opening set, Brasier claimed at least three games per set at the No. 2 spot, and Martina Oviedo (Cordoba, Argentina) fought to within a few points of forcing a third set in the No. 6 singles match before ultimately falling by a score of 6-3, 7-5.

The Lakers will now turn their attention to the GLIAC Tournament where they will face the Saginaw Valley State Cardinals in the opening round on Friday, April 26.
