Laker Women's Tennis Face Setback at Northwood

MIDLAND, Mich. - The Lake Superior State (LSSU) women's tennis team (0-1) fell to the Northwood Timberwolves (0-1) by a final score of 6-1 on Friday, despite three singles matches requiring a third set to be decided.

Northwood managed to claim the doubles point with wins at all three spots, but the Lakers would keep fighting in singles play with Tayla Brasier (Bathurst, Australia), Valentina Parodi (Albissola Marina, Italy), and Julia Fraile Raton (Sant Cugat del Valles, Spain) each taking their matches to a third set. However, the Timberwolves were ultimately able to secure the match with victories in five of the six singles matches.

Fraile picked up the lone victory on the day for the Lakers with a 6-4, 3-6, [10-2] win at the No. 5 spot.

The Lakers will be seeking their first win of the year on Saturday, Feb. 3 when they face the Lawrence Tech Blue Devils with the first serve scheduled for 4 p.m.
