Preview: Laker Women's Tennis Travel to the Buckeye State for a Pair of Weekend Road Matches

SAULT STE. MARIE, Mich. - The Lake Superior State University women's tennis program (1-2) is set to travel to Walsh University on Friday Feb. 17 at 6 p.m. before taking on Ashland the following day at 2 p.m.

The Lakers came away with a split in last weekend's contests with a tough 5-2 loss to Northwood before bouncing back with a victory against Lawrence Tech by a final score of 6-1 for their first victory of the season.

The Walsh Cavaliers finished last season with a strong 16-7 overall record (6-1 in GMAC), before falling to Tiffin in the G-MAC tournament. The Cavaliers currently hold a  2-3 record, with wins over John Carrol and Edinboro, but they have not fared as well against GLIAC competition.

The Ashland Eagles are looking to improve upon last season's 7-9 overall record, but they will need to do so with mostly new faces as they only returned three players from last year's roster. Ashland currently stands at an overall record of 3-2 with victories over NAIA foes Shawnee State and St. Francis as well as NCAA Division III opponent Ohio Wesleyan.
