Three Women's Tennis Players Receive GLIAC Honors

SAULT STE. MARIE, Mich. - On Friday, Oct. 25, the Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (GLIAC) announced its 2019 Women's Tennis Awards. Three Lakers received GLIAC honors. 

Junior AlexiAnn Drouin was named to the All-GLIAC First Team, sophomore Nadege Koua was named to the All-GLIAC Second Team and junior Muskaan Ranjan was named to the All-GLIAC Honorable Mention Team. 

Drouin, who played at the No. 1 single spot for the Lakers, finished the 2019 season with a 6-3 overall record. In doubles play, Drouin was 1-0 when playing in the No. 1 doubles pairing and 2-6 when in the No. 2 doubles position. Drouin has been named All-GLIAC First Team for consecutive years, and was named the GLIAC Tennis Player of the Year in 2017-18 following her exceptional freshman season.

Koua, had a strong second season for the Lakers, as she posted a 7-2 record in the No. 2 singles spot. Koua's record in doubles was 3-5 when in the No. 1 pairing and 0-1 when playing in the second pairing. Koua has been named to the All-GLIAC Second Team for the second straight year.

Muskaan Ranjan, competed for the Lakers in the No. 3 singles spot after joining the team as a transfer student. Ranjan's singles record was 5-3 and she played behind Drouin and Koua in the No. 3 spot. Ranjan posted a 3-5 record as a No. 1 doubles player.
