Lakers fall 9-0 against Saginaw Valley State

University Center, Mich. - Lake Superior State women's tennis was defeated 9-0 on the road against Saginaw Valley State. The Lakers (0-5) will continue to seek for their first match win during Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletics Conference play on Sunday when they travel to Northwood.

The Lakers and Cardinals (2-3, 2-3 GLIAC) opened up the doubles portion with a pair of 8-5 victories by SVSU in the No. 1 and No. 2 slots. The Lakers finished off the third doubles match as the victims of an 8-1 defeat.

During the singles portion, no Lakers players were able to win more than four games in any of their sets and each competitor fell in straight sets. SVSU also wrapped up the final three singles slots with a trio of 6-0, 6-0 victories to finish the Lakers.

The Lakers travel to Northwood Sunday to face the Timberwolves at 10 a.m. LSSU women's tennis will conclude their home matches Oct. 3-4 when they host Hillsdale and Wayne State respectively.
