Laker Men's and Women's Golf Have Strong Outings at Klash in Kentucky

PERRY PARK, Ky. - The Lake Superior State men's and women's golf programs competed at the Klash in Kentucky over the weekend.

Men

The men's team were able to secure a third place finish overall after being led by Marko Banic (Calgary, Alb.) who was able to shoot a consistent three over par in both rounds to finish tied for third on the individual leaderboard. Alex Bratton (Yorktown, Ind.) would also have a solid outing, coming away with a two-day total of 156 strokes for a top-ten individual placement of his own. True freshman Charley Stephen (Oshawa, Ont.) and senior Callum McKay (Calgary, Alb.) finished with respective totals of 163 and 166, and Grant Baker (Woodslee, Ont.) was not far behind with a total of 167 strokes after a 13-shot improvement on the second round of competition. Charles Johnson (Green Bay, Wis.) would then round out the lineup after completing both days of the tournament in 178 shots.

 

Women

Marie Mathieu (Marshall, Mich.) paced the women's team on her way to a top-10 finish individually, shooting for a two-day total of 167, and Julia Vess (New Hudson, Mich.) was not far behind, placing 12th overall after a five-stroke improvement on day two. Meanwhile, Jesse Hellebuyck (Almont, Mich.) rounded out the competition with a two-day total of 174 for a 16th place finish individually.
