Women's Golf Takes Part in Walsh University's Cavalier Classic

SAULT STE. MARIE, Mich. - The Lake Superior State women's golf team competed at the Cavalier Classic, hosted by Walsh University, at the Glenmoor Country Club in Canton, Ohio on Monday, April 11 and Tuesday, April 12. 

The women's team finished 15th after posting a two-day score of 687. On the first day of the tournament, the Lakers combined for a score of 334 and followed with a score of 353 on the second day of competition. 

For the third consecutive tournament, senior Alyshia Suleman led the women's team as she finished with a two-day total of 162 to finish tied for 34th among all competitors. Suleman posted a score of 80 on the first day of the Cavalier Classic and followed with an 82 on Tuesday. Suleman's first day score of 80 stood as the lowest score among all Lakers during the competition. Junior Julia Vess and freshman Jesse Hellebuyck followed as they both finished with combined scores of 173. Vess posted a score of 83 on the first day of competition and followed with a score of 90 to finish out the tournament. Hellebuyck recorded an 87 on Monday and closed the competition with a score of 86. Sophomore Marie Mathieu totaled a combined score of 189 after posting a score of 94 on the first day and following with a 95 on Tuesday.
