Preview: Women's Golf Set to Compete at the 12th Annual Gilda's Club Fall Invite

SAULT STE. MARIE, Mich. - The LSSU women's golf team will continue their season as they will compete in the 12th Annual Gilda's Club Laker Fall Invite hosted by Grand Valley State University. The tournament will be held on Saturday, Sept. 25 through Monday, Sept. 27 at The Meadows Golf Course.

The Lakers will be back at full strength following their 10th place two-day combined score of 704 (342, 362) at the ODU invite in Columbus, Ohio. The Lakers finished with a score of 704 (342, 362). The Lakers were led by the duo of senior Alyshia Suleman and sophomore Marie Mathieu who both finished among the top 20 golfers with a two-day score of 164. Both golfers recorded identical scores of 81 on day one and 83 on the second day of competition to finish tied for 17th overall. Junior Julia Vess finished third among the Lakers with a two-day score of 176 after posting an 83 and 93.

This weekend, the Lakers will play at The Meadows in Allendale, Mich. This links-style course is quite variable, boasting a 74.3/133 for a slope score and has quite a few patches of sand and water. This course includes several turtleback greens and the Lakers will look to capitalize on the shorter par 4 holes here, despite the par 5's being longer than average.

Results will be updated here.

Following this tournament, the Lakers will have a few weeks off before the trip to the Tiffin Invitational on October 10-12 in Seneca County, Ohio.
