Preview: Laker Women's Basketball Set for Road Tilts Against Wayne State and Saginaw Valley

SAULT STE. MARIE, Mich. - The Lake Superior State University women's basketball program (5-10, 2-5 GLIAC) is set to travel for a pair of Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference games when they take on the Wayne State Warriors on Thursday before facing the Cardinals of Saginaw Valley State on Saturday.

The Warriors hold an impressive 7-1 record in their nonconference slate, including an upset of then No. 17 Carson-Newman, but that has not translated into GLIAC play where they stand at 1-6 with the lone victory coming against Purdue Northwest. Three Warriors average double-digit scoring, and as a team, they currently rank third in the league in assists behind only Ferris State and Grand Valley with 16.1 per game.

The Cardinals currently hold an 8-9 overall record with a 3-4 mark in conference play, and they will face the Ferris State Bulldogs prior to their matchup with the Lakers. Saginaw Valley boasts one of the top scoring duos in the league in Kaitlyn Zarycki and Tori DePerry who are each averaging just over 18 points per game and rank second and fourth in the GLIAC in scoring, respectively.
