Women's Basketball Set for Final Game of the 2019-20 Season

SAULT STE. MARIE, Mich.- The Lake Superior State women's basketball team will conclude their season on Thursday, Feb. 27 against Ferris State. The game will start at 7:30 p.m. in the Jim Wink Arena in Big Rapids, Mich.

The Lakers

As the Lakers season comes to a close, the Lakers currently stand with an overall record of 8-18 which includes a 4-15 Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (GLIAC) record. The Lakers recently won their last matchup against Purdue Northwest (PNW) by a margin of 65-62. With the win against the Pride, the Lakers matched last season's win total while also recording four conference wins in a season for the first time since 2015-16. In the game, the Lakers were led by senior guard Abigail Ostman who would net 19 points in the contest. Freshman forward Mattison Rayman would add 13 rebounds in the victory. The Lakers will hope to finish their season with a similar victory against the Bulldogs.

In their last meeting in December, the Lakers would fall to the bulldogs by a score of 81-71 in Bud Cooper Gymnasium. The Lakers would trail by as much as 18 points in the game before mounting a comeback to pull within six in the contest. However, the Lakers shooting would go cold in the final minutes of the game which resulted in the 81-71 loss. The Lakers will look to avenge this loss in BIg Rapids.

Ferris State Bulldogs

The Bulldogs are currently sitting atop the GLIAC North division standings with an impressive 14-5 GLIAC record. The Bulldogs have won 6 of their last 7 games thanks to the scoring of their senior guard Riley Blair. Blair leads all of Ferris State's team with 541 points this season. The Bulldogs are coached by Kendra Faustin who is in her 5th year as the face of the Bulldogs.
