Women's Basketball Ready to Close Out Homestand with a GLIAC Game Against Ferris State

Sault Ste. Marie, Mich. - The Lake Superior State University women's basketball team will close out a long homestand with a Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (GLIAC) game on Saturday, Dec. 14 against the Ferris State Bulldogs at 1:00 p.m. in the Bud Cooper Gymnasium.

The Lakers

The Lakers are coming off a strong weekend of GLIAC play after a loss to No. 6 Ashland University and a conference win over the Wayne State Warriors at home. With the weekend split, the Lakers record is 4-3 overall and 1-1 in GLIAC games. The Lakers are led by senior forward Lexie Khon who averages 14.4 points a game this season. In the team's win over the Warriors, Khon posted 18 points and nine rebounds for the Lakers. Senior guard Claire Radtke has also been a steady contributor for the Lakers this season as she has averaged 8.3 points per game and 5.6 rebounds per game.

Through seven games this season, the Lakers have averaged 58.3 points per game, 31.0 rebounds per game and a 39.6 shooting percentage. 

Ferris State Bulldogs (5-3, 0-2 GLIAC)

The Bulldogs got off to a solid start this season before dropping their first two conference matches of the season to No. 6 Ashland and Wayne State. Both games were evenly contested with the Bulldogs falling to Wayne State by a final score of 78-75 and to Ashland, 79-70. Senior guard Riley Blair leads the team with 18.3 points per game while also 4.5 rebounds per game. The Bulldogs offense is rounded out by junior guard Adrienne Anderson, who averages 14.3 points per game, and freshman guard Mallory McCartney, who averages 11.8 points per game. 

Through eight games this season, Ferris State averages 82.0 points per game, 38.5 rebounds per game and a 45.1 shooting percentage. Ferris State is led by fifth year Head Coach Kendra Faustin, who is a Lake Superior State alum and member of the Lakers women's basketball team for four years.
