SAULT STE. MARIE, Mich. - The Lake Superior State women's basketball team fell to the Hillsdale College Chargers by a final score of 80-51 on Saturday, Nov. 16 in the Bud Cooper Gymnasium. 

The Lakers fell behind early in the game to the Chargers as Hillsdale opened the game scoring the first ten points. Lake State would tighten the Chargers lead to 12-7 with four minutes left in the first quarter. However, Hillsdale would build their lead before the end of the quarter, closing the opening quarter with a 21-7 lead.

LSSU would come out strong in the second quarter to score the first five points to make it a 21-12 game and sophomore Sadie DeWildt would hit a three pointer to bring the Lakers within 10 points.  Hillsdale would respond by netting the next 11 straight points to go ahead by 40-19 late in the first half. Freshman Mattison Rayman would make a three-point shot to end the half with the Lakers trailing 40-22.

In the second half, the Lakers were not able to find an answer for Hillsdale's offense as the team trailed by 59-35 at the end of the third quarter and the game would end with a final score of 80-51.

Senior Morgan Villemure led the Lakers with 10 points in the game while also adding an assist. Sadie DeWildt added nine points, which was second best on the team while also adding a team-high three assists. Jenna Gregory also had three assists, which led the team while notching a team-leading five rebounds. Mattison Rayman shared the team lead in rebounds with five. Claire Radtke had eight points in the game, including two three-pointers.

The Lakers will continue their homestand as they host Tiffin on Wednesday Nov. 20 at 5:30pm. This game will take place in the Bud Cooper Gymnasium.
