Lakers fall to No.1 Ashland on the road

ASHLAND, Ohio. —  The Lake Superior State women's basketball fell to No.1-ranked Ashland, 101-43, Thursday evening in a Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference matchup inside the Eagles' Kates Gymnasium.

With the loss, LSSU falls to 2-18 overall on the season with a 1-14 mark in league action. AU runs its record to 23-0, 15-0.

The Lakers finished the game shooting 32.7 percent from the field and 15.4 percent from three-point distance. The Eagles shot 50.7 and 38.9 percent.

Lake Superior was edged in the rebound column, 36-35, and turned the ball over a season-high 34 times compared to the nine committed by Ashland.

Senior forward Tamara Novic led the way offensively for the Lake Superior with 12 points on 6-of-10 shooting to go along with a team-high five rebounds. Claire Radtke finished with 10 points on 4-of-5 from the field

Laina Snyder and Andi Daugherty posted 19 points respectively to lead the Eagles offense. Maddie Dackin finished with 16.

The Lakers return to action on Saturday as they head to Tiffin for a GLIAC tilt at 1 p.m.
