GRAND RAPIDS, Mich.— The Lake Superior State women's basketball team struggled on both ends of the court Thursday evening as it fell to Grand Valley, 80-40, in a Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference match up inside the Delta Plex Arena.
With the loss, the Lakers fall to 0-14 overall and are 0-10 in GLIAC competition. Grand Valley improves to 15-3, 8-2.
LSSU finished the game shooting 36.4 percent from the field with a 25 percent clip from three-point range. GVSU shot 61.2 and 42.1 percent.
Lake State was outrebounded 29-14 in the loss and turned the ball over a 28 times, matching a season-high.
Junior guard Lexie Kohn led the Lake Superior offense with a season-high 18 points on 7-of-11 shooting including a 4-of-8 mark on triple attempts. Tamara Novic finished with six points and led the team with four rebounds.
Natalie Koening led the Grand Valley scoring attack with 22 points on 7-of-8 shooting and was 4-of-4 from three-point range. Cassidy Boensch finished with 14 points.
Lake State is back in action on Saturday as they head to Purdue Northwest to take on the Pride at 1 p.m.
