DETROIT— The Lake Superior State women's basketball team fell to Wayne State, 76-43, on the road Saturday afternoon in a Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference matchup.
With the loss, the Lakers slip to 0-11 overall on the season with an 0-7 record in GLIAC competition. The Warriors improve to 9-4, 4-3.
LSSU shot 36.2 percent from the field in the loss with a 42.1 with an 18.2 percent clip from three-point range. WSU finished at 49.1 and 47.1 percent.
Lake Superior was outrebounded, 40-24, on the afternoon turned the ball over 17 times compared to the 11 committed by Wayne State.
Senior forward Tamara Novic led the Lakers offensively with 13 points on a 6-of-9 shooting performance. Novic also led the team on the glass with seven boards.
Nastassja Chambers led the Warriors offensively with 17 points. Alex Matus posted 14 points and was 4-of-5 from behind the arc.
The Lakers return to action next Thursday (Jan.11) as they play host to Northern Michigan at 5:30 p.m. inside Bud Cooper Gymnasium.
