Laker Women Look to Start 2018 in Winning Column

SAULT STE. MARIE, Mich.— The Lake Superior State women's basketball team will look to start its 2018 portion of the schedule in the win column Thursday as they welcome Davenport to Bud Cooper Gymnasium (5:30 p.m.) for a Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference matchup.

The Lakers are 0-9 overall this season with a 0-5 mark in conference action. The Panthers 4-8, 2-3.

LSSU enters play averaging 60.9 points per game this season while allowing 78.2. DU is posting 56.2 points per game and allowing 65.2.

Senior forward Tamara Novic has paved the way for the Lakers this season leading the team in scoring (13.9 PPG) and rebounding (7.2 RPG).

Junior guard Courtney Jacobsen is averaging 9.4 points per game and leads the team with a 39.1 percentage from three-point range this season.

Emily Severn leads the Panthers offensively averaging 11.2 points per contest. Jenna Falkenberg leads the team on the glass at 8.4 rebounds per game.

After Thursday's game, the Lakers will head to Detroit as they continue GLIAC competition at Wayne State (1 p.m.). Lake State returns home on Jan.11 to take on Northern Michigan (5:30 p.m.).
