Women's Basketball Welcomes Ferris State on Saturday

SAULT STE. MARIE, Mich.— The Lake Superior State women's basketball team will host Ferris State this Saturday (1 p.m.) in Great Lakes Intercollegiate Conference action inside Bud Cooper Gymnasium.

The Lakers are in search of their first win of the 2017-18 campaign as they enter play with a 0-8 record overall and a 0-4 mark in league play. The Bulldogs are 6-4, 1-4. Both LSSU and FSU are coming off a pair of road losses to Saginaw Valley and Northwood last weekend.

Lake State has shot 39.6 percent from the field this season and 32.3 percent from three-point range. Ferris State is shooting 42.9 and 29.1 percent.

Senior forward Tamara Novic has been the catalyst for the Lakers this season as she leads the team in scoring (12.5 PPG), rebounding (6.9 RPG) and field goal percentage at 58.4 percent, which is good for second in the GLIAC.

Sophomore forward Claire Radtke is second on team averaging 9.8 points per contest. Courtney Jacobson is averaging 9.3 points.

The Bulldogs are led by Rachel McInerney who is averaging 16.7 points per game, which ranks No.5 on the league. McInerney also leads the team on the glass averaging nine boards, which is good for No.2 in the GLIAC.

After Saturday's matchup, the Lakers will take a break from GLIAC competition as they welcome Algoma (Ontario) on Dec.29 at 5:30 p.m.
