LSSU Women Come Up Short Against Concordia-St.Paul, Fall 83-73

ST. PAUL, Minn. — The Lake Superior State women's basketball team fell to non-conference Concordia St. Paul, 83-73, Friday in its first game of the Radisson Hotel MSP North Classic. 

With the loss, the Lakers fall to 0-3 overall this season. The Golden Bears move to 2-2.

LSSU shot 41.8 percent (28-of-67) from the field in the in the contest with a 31.3 (5-of-16) mark from three-point distance. CSP shot 43.5 percent (26-of-62) and 20.0 percent (4-of-20). The Golden Bears owned a, 44-34, advantage on the glass.

Senior forward Tamara Novic notched her first double-double of the season tallying 16 points and 10 boards.

Freshman guard Rebecca Villanueva posted a career-high 16 points and was 2-for-3 from behind the arc. Sophomore Courtney Jacobsen finished with 10 points.

Anna Schmitt carried the offense for CSP finishing with 27 points. Lindsey Dorr posted a double-double with 12 points and 11 rebounds.

Lake Superior is back on the court tomorrow (3 p.m.) as they wrap up the classic with a non-conference match up against Augustana (S.D).

The Lakers return home Nov.30 to open Great Lakes Intercollegiate Conference play against No.1-ranked Ashland (5:30 p.m.).
