LSSU Cross Country Competes at Warrior Challenge

NEW BOSTON, Mich. – The Lake Superior State University men's and women's cross country teams participated in the inaugural Warrior Challenge meet this weekend, hosted by Wayne State University.

The Laker men finished fifth overall out of the eight teams that participated in the 8,000-meter run. Sophomore David Mitter had the fastest finish for Lake State and completed the course third overall with a 25:38.4 finish time. The second finisher for the Lakers was senior Garrett Smith, who finished 22nd overall with a finish time of 26:57.3. Jack Miles, also a senior, was close behind as his time of 27:02.6 placed him 25th.

In the women's 6,000-meter race, Lake State finished sixth out of nine participating teams. Junior Rebecca Lathrop had the fastest time for LSSU, finishing 20th with a time of 24:10.5. Sophomore Alexis Passino finished 45th overall with a 25:27.6 finish time, and freshman Leah Bell's time of 25:36.9 placed her 47th.

The Lakers head to Grand Valley State University on November 3 to participate in the Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference Championships.
