TIFFIN, Ohio - Lake Superior State men's tennis opened the Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference schedule with a match against Tiffin on Saturday. The Lakers (4-4, 0-1 GLIAC) fell to the Dragons (9-4, 1-0 GLIAC) 8-1, securing just a doubles victory in the rout.
Senior Jake Prime and freshman Luis Valderrama held court in No. 2 doubles to defeat Agustin Mangone and Victor Fernandes, 8-4. The victory moves Prime and Valderamma to 5-0 in their last five doubles matches and gives the pair a 7-5 record on the season.
The Dragons topped the Lakers in No. 1 doubles and No. 3 doubles before sweeping the singles portion.
The Lakers cap the weekend with a match at Walsh on Sunday at 8 a.m.
