Kornacki and Myers falter following strong showing at ITA Midwest Regionals

ALLENDALE - Lake Superior State men's tennis capped off a memorable weekend at the Intercollegiate Tennis Association Midwest Regional, hosted by Grand Valley State, with two members of the team falling in the round of 16 of the men's consolation bracket. TJ Myers and Evan Kornacki, after advancing to the second day of competition, both stumbled in their matches on the second day.

Myers, a senior from Marquette, Mich., advanced to the round of 16 in the men's 'Singles B' consolation bracket after a 6-3, 1-6, 10-8 victory over Andrew Heuerman from GVSU on Saturday. Myers came up short on Sunday, however, and fell 6-1, 6-3 to Jerry Hewitt from Hillsdale .

Kornacki defeated Derek Vincent from Tiffin University 5-7, 6-3, 10-7 on Saturday. The freshman from Cadillac, Mich. had his weekend come to an end following a 6-3, 6-3 loss to David Reinauer from Northwood.

The Lakers begin their regular season with a match on Feb. 12 at Michigan Tech.
