Lakers drop final match of the fall slate 9-0 at Aquinas

CALEDONIA- Lake Superior State men's tennis team fell to Aquinas 9-0 in the final match of their fall schedule. The Lakers (0-3), who will resume their regular season competition in the spring, suffered a tough weekend on the road playing three teams in two days. Following a 9 a.m. match against Cornerstone on Saturday morning, the Lakers faced Aquinas College, another Wolverine-Hoosier Athletic Conference (NAIA) team and their third of the weekend.

The Lakers were unable to bounce back from their 5-4 loss earlier that morning and showed signs at the start that it would be tough going in their second match of the day.

The Lakers combined for only three combined set wins in the doubles portion, with the No. 3 doubles partners Miles Munro and TJ Myers recording two in an 8-2 loss.

The Saints also swept the entire singles portion to hand the Lakers the 9-0 loss. Freshman Conner Allen fought hard in the No. 4 slot but still fell short against Gunnar Peery (6-3, 6-2).

The Lakers' next team event will be during the spring season when they travel to Houghton to face Michigan Tech Feb. 12 and St. Cloud State Feb. 13.
