DEEPHAVEN, Minn. - The Central Collegiate Hockey Association (CCHA) has announced its 2024-25 conference schedule, as announced by the league office on Tuesday. Each full league member will play a 24-game league schedule with the addition of two non conference contests against future league opponent Augustana who will begin their first full CCHA schedule in 2025-26.
The Lakers will open up their league slate when they travel to Northern Michigan for the first two games of the Cappo Cup Series on Nov. 8-9 before returning home for a pair of games against Ferris State on the following weekend.
After a two-week gap, LSSU will face all three of the league's Minnesota schools in three-consecutive weeks. The Lakers will travel to St. Paul to face off against the Tommies of St. Thomas on Nov. 29-30 before returning home to take on the defending MacNaughton Cup Champion Bemidji State Beavers. LSSU will then round out the first half of the season with a trip to Mankato to battle the Minnesota State Mavericks.
The Lakers open up the second half with a pair of bouts against the Bowling Green Falcons in Taffy Abel Arena on Jan. 3-4 in what will account for the only league games of the weekend across the CCHA, and they will follow that up with their first trip to Houghton, Mich. since Nov. 2022 when they face the Michigan Tech Huskies in the only meetings of the regular season between the two Upper Peninsula rivals. They will then welcome St. Thomas to the Soo a week later.
Then, after a bye week, LSSU will travel to Sioux Falls, S.D. for their first ever game inside Midco Arena where they will face second-year program and future league opponent Augustana on Jan. 31-Feb. 1. The Lakers will then return to Sault Ste. Marie to round out the Cappo Cup Series against Northern Michigan.
On Feb. 14 and 15, LSSU will travel downstate to Big Rapids for a return trip to Ferris State, and on the following weekend, they will honor their seniors in their final home series of the regular season against Minnesota State.
The Lakers will then close out the 2024-25 regular season in the Buckeye State for a two-game slate at Bowling Green on Feb. 28 and March 1.
The first round of the CCHA Mason Cup Playoffs will take place on the weekend of March 7 with a best-of-three series. The Semifinals will be held on Saturday, March 15 with the Mason Cup Final on Friday, March 21, 2025. All Mason Cup Playoff games will be hosted by the higher seed.
