RECAP: Laker Hockey Falls to Beavers in Road Tilt

BEMIDJI, Minn. - The Lake Superior State hockey program (7-9-1, 4-6-1 CCHA) fell on the road to the Bemidji State Beavers (6-9-0, 5-4-0 CCHA) by a final score of 7-1 on Friday.

Both teams battled early on in the opening period, but the Beavers were able to break through shortly after the nine minute mark with a pair of goals from Eric Martin and Jere Vaisanen. Bemidji State would ultimately tack on one more in the final 15 seconds in the period.

Carter Jones opened the second period with his second goal of the night, but at the six minute mark of the period, John Herrington (Hudson's Hope, B.C.) breathed life into the Laker offense, finding the back of the net to cut into the lead with assists from Connor Milburn (Kamloops, B.C.) and Jared Westcott (Imperial, Mo.). However, the Beavers would add two more goals late in the period before notching one more in the third to close out the game.

The Lakers will look to bounce back for the series split in game two on Saturday, Dec. 9 with puck drop scheduled for 6:07 p.m. Central Standard Time.
