Laker Hockey Welcomes Sasha Teleguine

SAULT STE. MARIE, Mich. - The Lake Superior State (LSSU) hockey program welcomes Sasha Teleguine to the team as part of the 2023 recruiting class.

Teleguine, a native of North Attleborough, Mass., spent the previous season with the Chilliwack Chiefs of the British Columbia Hockey League (BCHL) for his second stint with the team. He would go on to produce 18 points (6G, 12A), matching his point total from his first season with Chilliwack before appearing in 20 games for the University of Connecticut.

Prior to his junior hockey career, Teleguine competed for the storied Thayer Academy, a prep school that boasts alumni such as Jeremy Roenick, Tony Amonte, Ryan Whitney, and Charlie Coyle, all of whom played in the National Hockey League (NHL) with three being first round draft selections. As a senior at Thayer, Teleguine would lead his team in points with 52 (21G, 31A) in 26 games.

Teleguine has also been able to skate and train with several professional and collegiate players over the course of his hockey career with his father Victor, a former member of the Central Red Army program in Russia, being a skills coach.

"[My dad] tells them to be hard on me," Sasha said in a 2021 interview with The Hockey News in regards to the higher level of competition that he has had the opportunity to compete against. "It helps me become more competitive, and it sets the standard high so when I go out at my level, I'll be ready for whatever hits me."

Teleguine and the Lakers are set to kick off the 2023-24 regular season on Saturday, Oct. 7 at Michigan State.
