Laker Hockey Welcomes Jacob Conrad

SAULT STE. MARIE, Mich. - The Lake Superior State (LSSU) hockey program welcomes defenseman Jacob Conrad (Green Bay, Wis.) to the team as part of the 2023 recruiting class.

Conrad, the Green Bay, Wis. native, served as a team captain for both his high school, Notre Dame Academy, as well as his junior team, the Fairbanks Ice Dogs of the North American Hockey League (NAHL). The defenseman helped lead his high school team to a 21-2 overall record with an impressive 30-point season (2G, 28A) from the back line with 21 of his assists coming on the power-play.

He would then travel over 3,000 miles from home, taking his talents to Fairbanks, Alaska where he played three seasons for the Ice Dogs. He went on to improve his production in each of his three seasons with the team before the captain wrapped up his final stint of junior hockey with a career-best 38 points (4G, 34A), ranking him second on his team and tied for 13th in the NAHL for points from a defenseman for the 2023 regular season.

Conrad and the Lakers are set to kick off the 2023-24 regular season on Saturday, Oct. 7 at Michigan State.
