Louis Boudon and Jacob Bengtsson Receive CCHA Player of the Week Honors

SAULT STE. MARIE, Mich. – Louis Boudon and Jacob Bengtsson have each received Central Collegiate Hockey Association (CCHA) Player of the Week honors as announced by conference officials on Monday, Dec. 13. Boudon has been named CCHA Forward of the Week and Bengtsson has been named CCHA Defenseman of the Week. 

Forward of the Week: Louis Boudon

Lake Superior State junior forward Louis Boudon led the Lakers to a weekend sweep over the No. 19 Northern Michigan Wildcats with three goals and an assist in the pair of games. Boudon, who was tied for the team-lead in points over the weekend, notched an assist on the team's fifth goal in Friday night's 7-2 win over NMU. The Laker captain followed with a three-goal performance on Saturday night, netting his second hat trick of the season to lead the Lakers to a 4-1 win over the Wildcats. Boudon evened the game at one in the first period with an even strength goal and scored the eventual game winner late in the third period as he tallied a five-on-three power play goal. The Grenoble, France native capped off the hat trick with a shorthanded empty net goal to clinch the Laker win. Boudon also had an impressive weekend in the faceoff circle for the Lakers as the centerman won 30 of the 43 draws he took. After the four-point effort against the Wildcats, Boudon has totaled 27 points this season to rank second in the CCHA (11G, 16A).

Defenseman of the Week: Jacob Bengtsson

Lake Superior State sophomore defenseman Jacob Bengtsson posted four assists for the Lakers in a weekend sweep over the No. 19 Northern Michigan Wildcats. In Friday's 7-2 win, Bengtsson recorded the primary assist on the Lakers fourth goal of the game. The defenseman finished the night with a +4 rating and added two blocked shots in the win. On Saturday night, Bengtsson had a hand in three of the team's four goals in the game as the sophomore tallied three assists in the 4-1 win. The Swedish defenseman tied his single game high in points (3) and assists (3). Bengtsson was tied for the team-lead in points this weekend and led all Laker defensemen in points in the series. Following the weekend, Bengtsson leads all CCHA defensemen in points (20) and ranks second among all NCAA defensemen in points this season.

The Lakers will open the second half of the season with a CCHA road series at Bemidji State on Friday, Jan. 7 and Saturday, Jan. 8. The opening game of the series is scheduled for an 8:07 p.m. EST start while the second game is set for a 7:07 p.m. EST puck drop. The game will be available to stream on FloHockey.
