SAULT STE. MARIE, Mich. – Louis Boudon and Timo Bakos have each received Central Collegiate Hockey Association (CCHA) Player of the Week honors as announced by conference officials on Monday, Oct. 25. Boudon has been named CCHA Forward of the Week and Bakos has been named CCHA Rookie of the Week.
Forward of the Week: Louis Boudon
Lake Superior State junior forward Louis Boudon led the Lakers to a weekend sweep over the Union College Dutchmen with five assists in the pair of games. Boudon, who was tied for the team-lead in points over the weekend, recorded a career-best four assists in the Lakers 7-4 win on Friday night. Boudon notched the secondary assist on the game's first goal and tallied his second assist of the contest in the first period on the eventual game winning goal. The Grenoble, France native, who was named the First Star of the Game, assisted on both of the team's goals in the third period to complete his career night. In Saturday's win, Boudon earned the primary assist on the Lakers final goal of the game as he set up freshman forward Timo Bakos for his hat trick goal. Through eight games this season, the Laker captain has points in seven games and is currently in the midst of a career-best six game point streak (3G, 9A). Following the weekend, Boudon leads the CCHA in points and assists. In addition, Boudon ranks second among all NCAA players in points and leads all of DI hockey in assists.
Rookie of the Week: Timo Bakos
Lake Superior State freshman forward Timo Bakos scored four goals this weekend, leading the Lakers to a pair of wins over Union College. In Friday's 7-4 win over the Dutchmen, Bakos netted his first collegiate goal to give the Lakers a 3-1 lead in the first period. On Saturday night, Bakos became the second CCHA skater to record a hat trick this season. Bakos netted a power play goal late in the second period to tie the game against Union. In the third period, Bakos scored his second goal, and second power play goal, of the goal to give the Lakers a 3-2 lead. Bakos completed the hat trick and sealed the Laker win with an empty net goal in the final minute of play. The second goal of the game stood as the game winner, marking the first game winning goal of the freshman's collegiate career. Bakos is tied for first in goals among rookie skaters in the CCHA this season with four.
Lake Superior State will be on home ice again this weekend as the Lakers host the St. Lawrence Saints for a non-conference weekend series at Taffy Abel Arena. The opening game against the ECAC team will be played at 7:07 on Friday, Oct. 29 while the series will conclude on Saturday, Oct. 30 with a 6:07 p.m. puck drop. The game will be available to stream on FloHockey. Fans can tune in to listen to Bill Crawford and Matt Pocket on the radio call on 99.5 YES FM.
