16 Lakers Named to the WCHA All-Academic Team

SAULT STE. MARIE, Mich. - Sixteen Lake Superior State hockey student-athletes have been named to the 2020-21 Western Collegiate Hockey Association All-Academic Team, as announced by conference officials on Wednesday, March 10.

To be eligible for this honor, a student-athlete must have completed one year of eligibility at his present institution prior to the current academic year with a grade point average of 3.0 or above for the prior two semesters or three quarters, or may qualify if his overall GPA is 3.0 or better for all terms at his present institution.

The Lakers named to the WCHA All-Academic Team are: Alex Ambrosio (Sr., F, Burnaby, B.C.), Louis Boudon (So., F, Grenoble, France), Ashton Calder (Jr., F, Sault Ste. Marie, Mich.), Seth Eisele (So., G, Lake Elmo, Minn.), Hampus Eriksson (Sr., F, Forsbacka, Sweden), Chase Gamelin (Sr., F, Sault Ste. Marie, Mich.), Arvid Henrikson (So., D, Stockholm, Sweden), Lukas Kaelble (Sr., D, Mannheim, Germany), Dustin Manz (So., F, Vanderbilt, Mich.), Mareks Mitens (Sr., G, Ventspils, Latvia), Yuki Miura (Sr., F, Tokyo, Japan), Miroslav Mucha (Jr., F, Bytca, Slovakia), Jacob Nordqvist (Jr., D, Gothenburg, Sweden), Mitchell Oliver (Jr., D, Kelowna, B.C.), Will Riedell (Sr., D, Greensboro, N.C.), Pete Veillette (Jr., F, Drummondville, Que.)

The No. 2-seed Lakers will host the No. 7-seed Alabama Huntsville Chargers in the WCHA Quarterfinals this weekend as LSSU secured the program's highest finish during the record season since the 1995-96 season. The best-of-three series is set to be played at the Taffy Abel Arena on Friday, March 12 at 7:07 p.m., Saturday, March 13 at 5:07 p.m. and Sunday, March 14 at 5:07 p.m., if necessary. 

Even though spectators cannot currently attend Laker games, there are still a number of ways that fans will be able to follow the game action. All Laker home games, and away games against WCHA opponents during the 2020-21 season will be available to watch live on FloHockey, the WCHA's streaming partner.
