FloHockey to Hold Laker Hockey Showcase Day on Friday, May 22

SAULT STE. MARIE, Mich. - Five games from the 2019-20 Lake Superior State hockey season will be aired on FloHockey on Friday, May 22 from approximately 12:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. EST as part of a showcase series that the Western Collegiate Hockey Association's (WCHA) streaming partner has put together. 

FloHockey has assigned each WCHA team a showcase day during the month of May, where subscribers can relive some of the top games from the past season. Fans who are not subscribed will be able to watch the games at Buffalo Wild Wings in Sault Ste. Marie. 

The games that will be featured during LSSU's Showcase Day include:

  • Nov. 1: Lakers earn their first conference win of the year, with Max Humitz scoring in overtime for a 5-4 win over Ferris State at home. 

  • Dec. 14: Hampus Eriksson scored the overtime game winning goal in a 3-2 win against No. 10 Bowling Green at home.

  • Feb. 7: Road win at Michigan Tech during Winter Carnival when the offense erupted for a 7-3 win.

  • Feb. 15: Lakers head North of the Border for a home game at the GFL Memorial Gardens in Sault Ste. Marie, Ontario and clinch a postseason spot with a 4-1 win over Alabama Huntsville

  • Feb. 28: Mareks Mitens posts a shutout in a 5-0 win at Ferris State  

Fans can view the games at Buffalo Wild Wings in Sault Ste. Marie as the restaurant will be partially reopening on Friday as a result of the Governor's signing of Executive Order 2020-92. Buffalo Wild Wings, the viewing headquarters for Laker hockey, will be open for dine-in, carryout or delivery from 12:00-8:00 p.m. To follow the regulations of the partial reopening, Buffalo Wild Wings will be seating customers at a 50% capacity. The partnership between FloHockey and the WCHA dates back to the start of the 2018-19 season and fans who purchase a monthly or annual pass are able to live stream all league regular season games as well as any preseason, exhibition and non-conference games hosted by a league school, and the entirety of the WCHA postseason tournament.
