Louis Boudon Named WCHA Rookie of the Week

SAULT STE. MARIE, Mich. – Louis Boudon has been named the Western Collegiate Hockey Association's (WCHA) Rookie of the Week, as announced by conference officials on Monday, March 2.

Boudon earned WCHA Rookie of the Week honors for the second time this season after leading the Lakers to a sweep over the Ferris State Bulldogs in the final weekend of the regular season. The Lakers notched a 5-0 win on Friday and closed out the series with a 4-2 win over the Bulldogs. 

WCHA ROOKIE OF THE WEEK - Louis Boudon

Freshman Louis Boudon led the Lakers to a sweep over the Ferris State Bulldogs in the final weekend of the regular season as he tallied four points in the series. Boudon led all rookies in the WCHA in points and assists during the final weekend of play as he netted a goal and three helpers. In Friday's 5-0 win over the Bulldogs, Boudon notched an assist on the final goal of the game. The Grenoble, France native recorded his third three-point game of the season on Saturday when he assisted on the go-ahead goal in the late stages of the first period, scored the game winning goal while on the power play, and would assist on the Lakers final goal to secure the win. With points in both games this weekend, Boudon has recorded his second five game point streak of the season as he has eight points (2G, 6A) in his last five meetings. Additionally, Boudon ranked first among rookies in power play goals, game winning goals and plus/minus this weekend. The kinesiology major is tied for fifth in assists in the WCHA with 20 and ranks second among all league rookies with 26 points. Boudon is tied for second on the Lakers in points and is the only player on the team to reach the 20 assist mark this season.

The Lakers will travel to Bemidji, Minn. this weekend for the opening round of the WCHA Playoffs after finishing as the seventh seed to clinch a second straight postseason berth. Lake State will play the Bemidji State Beavers in a best-of-three series that will open on Friday, March 6 at 8:07 p.m. ET. Saturday's game is set to be played at 7:07 p.m. ET and Sunday's game, if necessary, is set for a 7:07 p.m. ET start.
